Amos Gazit
In memory of Amos Gazit, the founder of Perfect Sea, Stories of Disappearing Sea

Amos Gazit is a conservationist, marine environment specialist, photographer, and designer with over 35 years of experience dedicated to protecting and advancing coastal and marine ecosystems. His work spans Southeast Asia, the South Caribbean, and the United States, where he has collaborated with a wide range of conservation and research organizations.

Throughout his career, Amos has focused on developing and implementing programs that integrate ecological preservation with environmental, economic, and social development, alongside academic and research initiatives. A key part of his contribution lies in the development of innovative sustainability frameworks. He is the creator of the SEED (Sustainable Environmental, Economic and Social Development) concept, which uses island ecosystems as a model to better understand and apply sustainability practices in broader, non-island contexts.

In 2014 and 2019, he led efforts to introduce the SEED concept in the Philippines, other Southeast Asian countries, and Curaçao. He also developed the H.A.M.E.R. concept, a marine rehabilitation approach that focuses on enhancing and protecting underwater environments through the installation of artificial reefs made from natural materials such as rocks and corals.

Alongside his scientific and environmental work, Amos expresses his deep connection to the marine world through photography and design. His artistic practice reflects the same passion that drives his conservation efforts, capturing the beauty and complexity of marine ecosystems while reinforcing the importance of their preservation.
