David Bosun

David Bosun is a prominent Wugalgal Elder from the Mualgal People on Mua Island, located within the Malulilgal Nation of the Zenadh Kes region.


His contributions to the community extend beyond his cultural heritage. He is internationally recognised as a talented artist and has held various influential roles, including serving as a director for the Torres Strait Island Regional Authority, a councillor for the Torres Strait Island Regional Council, and a chair on the board for the Mualgal Torres Strait Islander RNTBC.


With a deep understanding of governance at the commonwealth, state, and local levels, David brings invaluable insights to the administration of his community and region.


His knowledge of the Mualgal people's cultural traditions and heritage is profound; these customs have been meticulously passed down through generations, reflecting a rich history that David is committed to preserving.


In addition to his artistic endeavours, David has worked in the region's fishing industry and as a community engagement and enterprise manager for Community Enterprise Queensland.

He is dedicated to creating specialist training and employment opportunities within the Zenadh Kes region to foster sustainable economic growth.


David recognises the importance of balancing development with environmental stewardship, ensuring that the cultural heritage and natural surroundings are preserved for future generations.

His passion for his community and its rich traditions drives his efforts to empower his people while honouring their ancestral legacy.
