Saving Native Species

Priority Places

Overview

The grant opportunity was announced as part of the program to support the implementation of the Threatened Species Action Plan. A list of all 20 priority places under the Action Plan can be found on the Department’s website: Priority Places - DCCEEW.

The 20 priority places ensure a good balance between:

  • diversity of threatened species and ecological communities

  • importance to First Nations people

  • representativeness across Australia’s varied landscapes and seascapes.

The boundaries of non-island places are not fixed. This allows us to target actions in areas that will make the most difference. Non-priority places and species can still receive support from funding programs and research.

Important Dates

  • Closing: 31-Mar-2025 5:00 pm (QLD Local Time)

Objectives

The objective of the grant opportunity is to improve the condition of priority places to benefit many species and their habitat, and threatened ecological communities (Target 4, Action Plan). The intended outcome of the grant opportunity is improved conditions of priority places.
